Simon is Sparky's bright spark

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Wales boss Mark Hughes has pinpointed Simon Davies as one of the bright lights in a disappointing World Cup qualifying campaign.

Davies is expected to earn his fifth full cap when Wales take on Belarus in their final Group Five match at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

Our outstanding midfield prospect, still just 21, has come on leaps and bounds at Spurs since his arrival from Peterborough United in January 2000.

Hughes insisted that the emergence of Davies, Matthew Jones, Craig Bellamy and Jason Koumas was the good news from a campaign that has yet to yield a victory from nine games - although his side have drawn six - and Wales could still finish bottom.

Veteran striker Hughes, still in the Premiership at Blackburn, has had to contend with growing criticism of late, but he said: "There have been a lot of negatives flying around, but we only have a certain amount of people at our disposal.

"The positives for me from this campaign are these four young players breaking through into the squad. It was me who pushed them forward.

"They have been given the chance and then gone back to their clubs full of confidence and ended up with a run of games in their first teams. That has in the long run benefited us because they have gained top-level experience."
