Simon: All about the draw
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Simon Davies says that the most important thing to emerge from Thursday night's performance at Fulham was making the draw for the quarter-finals.
Our midfield stylist snatched the winner four minutes from time and soon after the final whistle we were drawn out the hat to face Bolton in the next round.
"That's the most important thing," said Simon afterwards of the win. "In the second half they put us under a bit of pressure. To come through like we did is brilliant for us.
"Obviously come here we knew they would have the lions' share of possession. We had to be tight defensively and break when we could and we did that."
Simon admits that there was a sense of disbelief in the dressing room at the break after Barry Hayles' leveller in the first half stoppage time.
"We had a couple of good chances and if they didn't score when they did it could have been a bit different. But we battled hard and we got the goal at the end.
"We came in at half time and we couldn't believe what had happened, it was bad defensively and we could have stopped it. We were all disappointed with it, but we went out for the second half with fresh minds again and tried to apply the same gameplan and it came up trumps for us."
Simon is acquiring a happy habit of scoring vital goals, but few could have been so sweet as seeing this one fly past the stranded Maik Taylor.
"It dropped nicely onto myself left foot and I was just fortunate to get a good strike onto it. I think the keeper was a bit unsighted, but it dropped into the bottom corner and I was dead happy with it.
"It's always nice to get on the scoresheet and it was an important goal tonight to get us through to the next round and I'm delighted.
"We've got Bolton and it's a bit of a bonus to get them at home. We'll both have a taste of each other on Monday night and then we'll work on that for the next game.
"We're happy with that draw I think."
