Our Under-18s made it seven wins on the trot with a 3-1 success against Bristol City on Saturday.

Our Under-18s made it seven wins on the trot with a 3-1 success against Bristol City on Saturday.Goals from Andros Townsend, Jon Obika and David Hutton secured the win in the rain at Spurs Lodge to make it five-successive wins in the FA Premier Academy League on top of two recent victories in the FA Youth Cup.

In fact, the lads have a record of played 10, won nine, drawn one since losing against MK Dons on October 27.

The youngsters' match was similar to the first team's against Sunderland in that it should have been all over at half-time.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We started brightly and went 2-0 up reasonably quickly.

"Andros Townsend opened the scoring after 20 minutes. It came from a pass from Kyle Fraser-Allen and I was delighted with Andros getting on the end of it, because we're trying to get him into those areas more and more. He also took the safe option in his finish so rather than smashing the ball, he guided it into the roof of the net and that's something he's worked on.

"Jon Obika scored a fantastic individual goal to make it 2-0 about five minutes later. He broke down the right, cut inside two defenders using great close control and then bent the ball into the far corner.

"We could have extended that lead but didn't and Bristol pegged us back, scored and the second half was a lot harder than it would have been if we'd have taken our chances.

"In the end, we scored a third goal later on to secure the win when David Hutton converted at the far post after good work from Andros.

"However, before that Oscar Jansson made two outstanding saves at important times to keep it at 2-1 and he had an excellent debut for us.

"Overall we did well in tricky conditions and I've got to thank the ground staff at the training ground for their hard work in making sure we got the game on - I know a lot of Academy games were off at the weekend but our pitch was superb."
