Sending off no help

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Dean Richards reasons that Fulham being reduced to ten men was possibly the worst thing to happen for the team in the 1-1 draw on Monday night.

Fulham keeper Maik Taylor saw red on 40 minutes for bringing down Simon Davies when through on goal - Teddy Sheringham netted the resulting penalty to level.

After the sending off, Fulham settled for one man up front and two banks of fours to stifle the attacking intent of Spurs, desperately seeking to win the game. It proved to be a frustrating experience, frustration that was increased when Darren Anderton was sent off on 72 minutes.

"We came out and didn't start too well," conceded Dean. "Maybe the worst thing that could have happened was them going down to ten men. They were a goal up early and settled for getting men behind the ball - it was difficult to break them down.

"We are disappointed. We made it hard for ourselves by letting them score first - that was a key factor in the game.

"If they hadn't of scored the goal and then got the keeper sent off they would have had to come out and would have left gaps at the back. They got men behind the ball and it was hard for us to break them down.

"We didn't really create too much. We had the one good chance in the second half from Milo. It's disappointing."
