Scott 'sets benchmark' - Gareth
Gareth Bale paid tribute to Scott Parker after the midfielder's outstanding first season at the club.
The England international was an instant hit after joining us from West Ham at the end of the summer transfer window.
That was reflected in him being named Player of the Month by fans voting on Facebook, Twitter and Xtra for his first three months at the club.
His performances have been rewarded with a Player of the Season double from our One Hotspur Members and Supporters Clubs.
"What you see is what you get with Scott and that's 110 per cent in evey game," said Gareth, who picked up the One Hotspur Junior Members Player of the Season Award on Sunday.
"He sets the benchmark for the rest of the team.
"He's full of energy, great on the ball and is an example to the rest of the team both in matches and training."
With so much attacking prowess in the team, Gareth was quick to underline the value of both Scott and Sandro in the deeper midfield role, the Brazilian outstanding in Scott's injury absence as we secured fourth place in the final four matches of the season.
"They are the grafters, they break up everything, close down everything and they do all the dirty work that goes unseen," added Gareth. "They’ve both been fantastic."
