Scott makes point

Scott Parker quickly switched his focus to Southampton after the draw at Wigan, insisting: "We have to bounce back."

The midfielder was a driving force as we had the better of the first half at the DW Stadium, yet despite a 10-2 advantage in efforts on goal, we ended up level at 1-1 at half-time.

Callum McManaman then put us on the back foot with a thumping second goal for Wigan four minutes into the second half.

But we dug deep as the minutes ticked away and found an equaliser when Tom Huddlestone's free-kick was turned into his own net by Emmerson Boyce.

"Everyone was disappointed straight after the match but we pick ourselves up again and get ready for Southampton," said Scott. "We can't be too down. We have to bounce back."

Although disappointed at the DW, Scott was quick to suggest that it could be an important point.

“It was a difficult afternoon,” he reflected. “We dominated in the first half, went ahead but they got a goal back straight away from a set-play, that was a blow for us. In the second half, they sat behind the ball and we struggled to break them down.

“It was a massive point for us in the end especially in the circumstances, 2-1 down with a minute to go. It was important to equalise. We take the point and although we’re disappointed, that point could be big in the end."
