Scorers a hit with Glenn

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for his goalscoring heroes in the Worthington Cup win at Fulham last night.

Sergei Rebrov marked his first start since September with a goal after 14 minutes and Simon Davies struck late to book our place against Bolton Wanderers in the quarter-finals.

"I thought Sergei was excellent," said Glenn. "He looked sharp in all his work, not just his goal and all in all, we've not played at our best and picked up an away win against a good Premiership side. We've got to be happy with that.

"Simon will play a big part here and he has a big future. He's growing as a player and learning from the experienced players around him. It's great he popped up with the winner."

Driven by the impetus of a late first half equaliser, Fulham enjoyed the greater share of possession in the second half but defensively we remained solid and limited Jean Tigana's men to one or two efforts on goal before Davies struck.

"We played well to a degree in the first half and I thought we would come in 1-0 up," Glenn reflected. "Getting that goal was always going to make the second half tough for us but we showed character and they didn't create much with a lot of possession they had. We didn't play at our best but we got through.

"Five away wins so far is a good sign, three in the league, two in the cup, with a team that hasn't had that many victories away from home in recent years.

"We've got a lot of belief about ourselves when we play away from home but it's about consistent levels that will determine what we can achieve."
