Sam's the same man
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Hughton believes Sam Allardyce the manager is a mirror-image of Sam Allardyce the player at Bolton.
Coach Chris crossed swords a few times with Sam in his playing days at the likes of Bolton, Notts County and Sunderland.
Now they meet again at Bolton's Reebok Stadium in a key Premiership clash on Saturday.
"I knew Sam as a player and I suppose his management style is similar to his style as a player," said Chris.
"He's very whole-hearted, has great demands and that's what he shows with his team.
"He's been able to gel a lot of foreign players together and I'm sure Sam would admit that's not always been the easiest of tasks.
"If you look at the best team in the country at the moment, Arsenal, they have had longer together, they know each other and the key players have been together for a few seasons.
"To do what Sam has done in the short period of time he's done it in, he's done ever so well. The hardest job is to gel those players together in that time."
Chris also believes this Bolton side has improved season by season since the Lancashire club returned to the Premiership in 2001.
"This game is a difficult prospect," added Chris. "I think Bolton are a club that has benefited from staying in the Premiership and have players that have been there for a longer period of time now.
"They play a certain shape, are happy with it and that's why they've had a lot better season.
"They reached the League Cup Final and they are a better side than they were last season and the season before and a very difficult side to beat particularly at home, where they have got goals in them, not only from the forwards but from different positions. They can score goals and it will be difficult, for sure."
