South African Diary: Day 2

A busy day for the lads with two training sessions before Saturday's game against Orlando Pirates.

The first session at 10.30am saw fitness guru Kunle Odetoyinbo put the lads through their paces before a practice match over a slightly smaller pitch.

This was an 'open' session as press and fans were allowed in - both took advantage and more Spurs goodies were handed out.

Amongst the fans were Ralph Hohls and Dave Rodger of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Club of South Africa, a club with a healthy 1,000-plus members in the country.

After interviews and autographs, Robbie Keane, Simon Davies, Gus Poyet and Mauricio Taricco were whisked off to the beach where they took part in a photo shoot for our sponsors Thomson.

Lunch and a rest was followed by session number two at 3.30pm. This was a closed session and slightly lighter as Glenn Hoddle took the lads through team shape and set-pieces.

Again, there was little time to waste as the party had received invites to the evening's Currie Cup rugby match between Natal Sharks and SWD Eagles at the ABSA Stadium - home of our match on Saturday.

Meanwhile, John Gorman, Jamie Redknapp and Bobby Zamora had a live television date on Supersort, South Africa's eqivalent of Sky Sports.

They appeared for 15 minutes on Gary Bailey's On The Ball show via a link to the studio in Durban.

It was then time for bed before Saturday's action.
