Ryan on Palace challenge

21 February 2016|Tottenham Hotspur

Ryan Mason believes the ability to see off fellow Premier League sides is essential to a lengthy FA Cup run.

Fresh from captaining the team on his return to action against Fiorentina in the week, the midfielder is keen for us to continue our superb spell of eight games unbeaten when we meet Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the world’s most famous cup competition this afternoon (kick-off 3pm).

Having seen us get the better of current Premier League leaders Leicester City after a replay earlier in the tournament, Ryan expects us to rise to the challenge of facing another of our domestic rivals at White Hart Lane with a place in the last eight at stake.

“It’s not easy when you’re drawn against a Premier League side in the FA Cup but if you want to win this competition then you’ve got to beat these teams,” said the 24-year-old Academy product.

“We’re excited about the challenge. Palace are a strong side but I think you can see by the way we’re playing that we want to win every game we play in.

“You’ve seen it in the Europa League and in the FA Cup against Leicester and Colchester – we’re a good team and we want to keep our momentum and keep getting good results.”
