Robins good for Marney
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Dean Marney describes his loan spell at Swindon Town as a 'toughening up' experience - but he's loving every minute of it.
The young defender joined the Second Division outfit just after Christmas and has since played the first eight league games of what looks like being a promising career.
Indeed, the loan has been extended another month and his spell at the County Ground has coincided with a steady climb up the table.
After a recent foot injury, Dean has returned to the side for the last two games and started again in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Wycombe - only the second reverse in eight matches.
Dean, our reserve team captain this season, reflected on the experiences of playing for points and living away from home for the first time.
"I think I've coped well and I've really enjoyed it," said the 18-year-old. "They are a good set of lads and they've taken me in well.
"The games are a lot more competitive and you don't get much time on the ball. It's a big change.
"Obviously you want to win every game you play for the reserves but performances are more important really. At Swindon it's all about results. But we've started to climb up the league and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
"Living away is the only thing I've found hard really. That's why I've been back at Tottenham for a few days.
"I'm in a hotel on my own, none of the other players are there and to be honest, not a lot of the players actually live in Swindon, so I can't really go out with them.
"It's been good experience though. I've never really been away for too long from my family so hopefully you grow up a little.
"That's the idea of these loans, to grow up as a person and a player. It toughens you up a bit."
