Roberto's target

Roberto Soldado has happy memories of facing Crystal Palace – and he hopes to make more of them this afternoon.

The Spaniard made a goalscoring Premier League debut for us in our visit to Selhurst Park on the opening day of last season, tucking away from the penalty spot shortly after the interval for what proved to be the game’s only goal.

Having also started when we secured a 2-0 home victory over the Eagles in January, the 29-year-old is keen for us to register another positive performance when we welcome Neil Warnock’s side to White Hart Lane today.

“I certainly hope we can beat Crystal Palace again,” he said. “We have to get the three points at home and this will be a good opportunity for us to do so.

“I always look forward to playing, no matter who we are up against. I remember scoring at their ground last year, my first official goal for the Club, and I recall people saying to me afterwards: ‘Welcome to the Premier League!’”

Read more from Roberto in today’s official matchday programme – on sale for £3.50 at several points around the stadium and from the Spurs Megastore.
