Paul Robinson hopes the FA Cup provides the ideal platform to kick-start our season again after a lean period.

Paul Robinson hopes the FA Cup provides the ideal platform to kick-start our season again after a lean period. We travel to Fulham in round five of the competition and the goalkeeper clearly possesses a steely resolve to make sure recent disappointments are consigned to memory.

"We need to pick it up on Sunday, it is a massive game for us and the FA Cup is a big competition this year with the final going back to Wembley," stated the England No.1.

"We are all determined to put things right from the last few weeks, there is nobody more disappointed than myself and my teammates around me over how things have gone.

"We have talked about things and what has gone wrong and hopefully you are going to see a different team over the next few weeks."

It looked like the team were set to get back on track in the opening stages of the encounter with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last weekend. Jermaine Jenas scored in the first couple of minutes and there was only one team in it for a good spell of the first half.

"The first 20 minutes was the best we have played away from home," agreed Robbo. "There were no excuses, the pitch was shocking, but it was the same for both teams. It wasn't an easy game, but we seemed to roll over a bit too easily.

"We are determined that it is not going to happen again and we really want to put things right. We are still in two top cup competitions, while we still want to get into Europe again through the league.

"To do that we know we've got to start improving our performances on all fronts. It starts on Sunday in the FA Cup at Fulham.

"If we go to Fulham, play how we want to play and do well, it will get us going again and come the end of the season we will have something to look forward to.

"As an Englishman I really want to do well in the FA Cup. At some point in my career I want to reach an FA Cup final and I don't see why we can't do it this year.

"We've got a good, strong squad with a mean streak and a determination to do well after the last few weeks. We're going to go there concerned only with the problems we are going to cause them."
