Robbo on the Blues

Thu 06 March 2014, 12:10|Tottenham Hotspur

Graham Roberts knows a thing or two about Spurs and Chelsea.

The legendary midfielder who played 276 times for us between 1980-86 had a spell at Stamford Bridge between 1988-90 after returning to England from Glasgow Rangers.

That included a 4-1 win at the Lane in September, 1989 - a match 'Robbo' didn't particularly enjoy.

"I remember coming back here as captain of Chelsea," said Graham, who helped us win the FA Cup twice and UEFA Cup in his time at the Lane.

"Tottenham is my team and always has been my team and coming back that day was hard. We (Chelsea) won 4-1 and I didn’t cheer one goal."

Graham, who helped the Blues win the old Divison Two title in 1988-89, expects another testing afternoon at Stamford Bridge but is looking for the team to replicate last season's performance - goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson secured a 2-2 draw and we looked the more likely winners by the final whistle.

"This is always a difficult game and Chelsea are a tough team to beat," said Graham.

"Stamford Bridge is a tough place to go but we went there last season and played really well, Ade scored a fantastic goal. If we can come away from there without losing then it will be a great result.

"I think the top three at the moment will end up as the top three and it will between Arsenal and Tottenham again for fourth."

Look out for more from Graham ahead of our matches against Benfica and Arsenal...
