Robbo confident

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Paul Robinson is confident of being fit for the start of the Premiership campaign.

England’s number one has returned to full goalkeeping training and is throwing himself around again at Spurs Lodge.

He’s been out since damaging his knee in a 50-50 against Villa’s Darius Vassell on May 1 but is typically confident when it comes to playing again.

“I heard there was talk that I might miss the first few games of the season but realistically, personally, I hope to be back by then,” said Robbo.

“I’ve started training again and I’m building up slowly. I’m being careful at the moment and cautious not to take things too quickly, gradually easing my way back into it.

“There’s nothing I can’t do at the moment and in the next couple of weeks I’ll be building up to full pace. Touch wood, it’s been going well.”

This injury has been a new experience for Robbo and one he’s not hoping for a repeat of any time soon.

“I didn’t know what a serious injury was,” he admitted. “If you remember, when I first did it, I tried to stay on and play.

“I even said to the doctor at the time that I hoped to play the next weekend but I then went for a scan and she soon told me otherwise!

“It’s been a learning process for me and the club have had to keep the reins on me a little to stop me doing too much too soon.

“It’s a looking good now. I’m in full training again and it’s all going in the right direction. I’m just pleased to be training again and I now want to get myself playing again.”
