Paul Robinson is fully behind the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. The excellent work of the Club’s community scheme resulted in the achievement of charitable status and the new Tottenham Hotspur Foundation will look to deliver 500,000 sporting opportunities to children and young people in and around North London – a 25% increase from the 400,000 delivered last year.
The Foundation launches with significant support and long-term funding from the Club. The total commitment is £4.5m, which represents six per cent of our annual turnover.
“This is an excellent commitment on behalf of the Club, a long-term development that emphasises our commitment not just to our fans, but to the whole community,” said England’s number one, who helped launch the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation with Prime Minister Tony Blair at Downing Street on Monday.
“I have attended a number of our community projects and you can’t help but feel what it means to everyone involved.
“Football has a great ability to inspire and at Spurs, we are proud to play our part.”
Meanwhile, Paul turned his attentions to the Carling Cup semi-final, second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday night - our biggest cup match since the return against Chelsea at the same stage of the same competition in 2001.
Robbo is determined to finish the job off after we led 2-0 in the first leg at the Lane last week, only for the Gunners to hit back for a 2-2 draw.
“After that Jeckyl and Hyde performance in the first leg, hopefully the team that played in the first half at the Lane will turn up at the Emirates,” stated Robbo.
“It’s a massive game and we know how much it means to everyone at the Club and our special fans.
“It’s a huge achievement to still be in four competitions but this match, at this time, is the most important of the season.
“It’s a one-off, we’re feeling positive and whoever wins this game goes through to a cup final, simple as that.”
