Robbie Keane admits he was shocked to see red for a challenge he insists carried no malice or intent. The striker was sent off on 67 minutes following a coming together with Fabrice Muamba that resulted in a tangle and the Birmingham man receiving treatment. Referee Mr Dowd issued a straight red card to the skipper and the visitors proceeded to bank maximum points with a stoppage time strike that secured a 3-2 victory.
"The two of us went for the ball and I went in with one foot, which you can clearly see on TV and after that it was a tangle," reflected Robbie, scorer of our two goals in the encounter. "You could see the ball changed direction and I think people know that I am not a malicious player.
"I was very surprised and hopefully it will be looked at. I raised my hand because I didn't think it was a bad tackle and felt it was more of a collision. I have never been sent off before for a tackle and obviously I am disappointed - even more because we didn't get anything out of the game."
