Robbie on great expectations

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Robbie Keane knows the team will be expected to beat Crystal Palace at the Lane today but warns expectations and doing it are two very different things.

With five wins on the bounce going into the home encounter, the striker is aware it is not just the team's spirit that is rising rapidly. After quietly banking the points for a few weeks, the winning run of games is now starting to attract attention and the odds are now likely to be longer on any outcome other than a home win.

"Especially with the run we're having the expectancy level has probably gone up more," reasoned Robbie, a Boxing Day goalscorer against Norwich. "It is always hard against a promoted side and Iain Dowie has done a tremendous job there and will have them right up for it.

"You should never just think you should win, we are capable of winning, but who knows in football? Confidence is high so we will be looking to continue our run and that is very important to us."

Looking back to the Norwich game, Robbie reflected it was fortunate for him the home defence combined to set up his goal - a Craig Fleming header and Adam Drury's shin away set him nicely to smash home.

"It was one of those things and the defence was unlucky. I was lucky enough to be there to score. The most important thing was the win and to improve the run we are having.

"It was also important to get three points on Boxing Day because there are three other games now in a short space of time where you need to get as many points as you can."

Meanwhile, Robbie admitted that whichever two strikers are on the pitch know they must do the business as a quality replacement is looming on the sidelines.

"Of course, you'd be lying if you said it was not at the back of your mind. We're lucky enough to have three good strikers here and it is always tough competition.

"It keeps everyone on their toes and it can only be good for us."
