Robbie in the middle
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Robbie Keane relished his varied duties against West Ham on Wednesday evening and particularly enjoyed his midfield cameo role.
It was the introduction of Helder Postiga to join goalscorer Bobby Zamora in attack that saw Robbie step back into a most productive midfield role. He certainly pulled the strings from the deeper position and it was his threaded pass that led to Bobby's winner.
Robbie explained on Thursday that being cast as a midfield playmaker is not unfamiliar territory for him.
"It was a bit different!" he laughed, after jokingly comparing himself to Roy Keane. "I have done it before when I started off at Wolves - it is where I made my name, that midfield role.
"It is something that I enjoy and when you play there you seem to get more of the ball and be involved in the play.
"I got pushed up when the then Wolves manager Mark McGhee played me behind the front two - the same as against West Ham - then I got played up front.
"As I said, it is something that I really enjoyed playing, you see a lot of the ball and I always think that the more of the ball I have the more dangerous I am."
Leading the line as a striker can be a frustrating experience if defenders clamp the shackles on - and Robbie says be much prefers freedom of movement.
"It's not my game. People know the way I play, I like to come off, get the ball and run at people. I'll do anything for the team though and I led the line a lot last year with Teddy playing deeper."
