Paul Robinson believes our UEFA Cup quarter-final, second leg against Sevilla is right up there with the Champions League games he experienced with Leeds United. That’s quite a statement when you consider that Robbo faced no less than Barcelona, AC Milan and Real Madrid as Leeds progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2000-01 season. He also played against Besiktas and Lazio in that campaign.
We take on the Spanish title contenders at the Lane needing to claw back a 2-1 deficit from the first leg.
“I’ve played in some big Champions League games with Leeds and this is right up there with them,” said Robbo. “This is a great competition and to go so far has been fantastic – it’s a massive game for me personally and a massive game for the Club.
“Sevilla are a very strong team, always likely to score goals but over there we showed enough to suggest that we have the beating of them.
“We’re not afraid of them and we will play in a true English style, get about them and hopefully get an early goal to set us up for a win.
“The fans are also going to be massive for us. We’ve openly spoken about what happened to them out in Seville and now is our chance to do it for them.”
