Ricky delighted with Legends goal

Fri 30 May 2014, 08:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Ricky Villa savoured his goal for the Spurs Legends team last Sunday – but played down one particular moment of magic that left the crowd in awe!

The 61-year-old former midfielder rolled back the years on a special appearance for our veterans’ side, lining up alongside the likes of Mark Falco, John Lacy, Graham Roberts, Justin Edinburgh and David Howells as the lads beat Patmore Stag XI 3-1 at Sun Postal Sports FC in Watford.

Ricky bagged the Legends’ third goal from the penalty spot, but he was earlier denied by the crossbar after embarking on an amazing run into the area and unleashing a sumptuous right-footed effort from 16 yards.

The 1978 Argentine World Cup winner was delighted to get on the scoresheet, but remained coy on his near miss!

“It was a super day,” said Ricky, who is visiting the UK from Argentina. “I enjoyed it and it was great to score a goal.

“The other chance was maybe a bit lucky, but I had a very good Sunday! It was a lovely day with bright sunshine and lots of people there. I enjoyed it.”
