Ricardo Rocha made it a day to remember for pupils at Lancasterian Vale School on Friday.

Ricardo Rocha made it a day to remember for pupils at Lancasterian Vale School on Friday.

Our Portuguese defender took part in a football coaching session led by staff from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation and attended a special assembly.

It was part of our on-going drive to support community initiatives throughout the football season, and Ricardo was privileged to be part of the day.

He said: “It was a pleasure to be part of something like this and to help make a difference for the kids.

“It’s so good for Spurs to have projects like this - not just in this school but in others too – and it’s a big thing to help the community in different aspects.”

The Vale school shares a site with Lancasterian Junior School in Tottenham, and caters for children with a range of physical disabilities aged between two-and-a-half and eleven years.

Children from the Vale School work alongside mainstream Lancasterian children in a variety of situations in the classroom, at playtime and in assembly, as part of an inclusion programme.

In accordance with the requirements of the National Curriculum, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has developed coaching and education workshops specifically designed to encourage children and young people with disabilities to participate in football training and carry out educational tasks - directly linked to the PE curriculum.

Ricardo added: “I’m a father and I have two kids, so I can appreciate the challenges these young people face. I think they’re happy and I just pray for them to have the best life possible.”
