REUNION FOR TEEMU

Teemu Tainio will come up against a player on Sunday who he was teammates with at the age of 16 in Finland.

Teemu Tainio will come up against a player on Sunday who he was teammates with at the age of 16 in Finland.

The player in question is, somewhat surprisingly, Marlon Harewood, the West Ham striker who enjoyed a stint in Teemu's homeland during his time at Nottingham Forest.

Harewood, who has netted 16 goals this season, after a further loan spell at Ipswich joined the Hammers in November 2003 and has thrived in the Premiership environment.

It is a talent Teemu believes was evident when they were together at a young age.

"Myself and Marlon played together for two years in Finland while he was on loan from Nottingham Forest," recalled the midfielder. "We won the cup together and I have good memories of him.

"I am pleased he is doing so well at the moment.

"He is very fast and has scored a lot of goals. He was a talented player then, we are the same age and were 16 at the time, he was playing up front and I was in midfield.

"You could see he was talented and he has proved it since," added Teemu, who went on to respond to the suggestion that 16 was a young age to be playing top-flight football.

"I was the youngest player to play in the Finnish top league. There are not so many players though and, if you are good enough, you can play at the age of 15 or 16."
