Return against the Saints?
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Chris Armstrong will be hoping the goals go marching in after meeting the Saints again on Wednesday night.
Back in March we were in seventh heaven as Armstrong bagged two and Steffen Iversen a hat-trick in a 7-2 win against Southampton at the Lane.
Armstrong’s double kick-started a run of eight goals in his last 11 games when everything he touched seem to turn to goal-d.
Now the Saints are in Armstrong’s sights again. He has a chance of starting tonight’s encounter at The Dell (8pm) after Les Ferdinand was substituted at half-time against Middlesbrough on Saturday with concussion and with Armstrong subsequently having two goals chalked off for offside in the second half, he is determined that Southampton will kick-start his season again.
“I’m pleased to have come on and got involved in the game,” said Armstrong after Saturday’s goalless draw. “I haven’t been involved in too many so to get half a game is ideal for match fitness and it would have been nice to see the goals count as well.
“We’ll now go down to Southampton with confidence and try to get the three points there.
“Southampton have had another run of form, it’s another ex-manager in Glenn Hoddle but we have to look at last season and try to be positive. We need to get a result. We’ll be confident and we’ll give it our best.”
Armstrong was naturally disappointed not to have seen one of his goals stand against Boro. “It looked like a couple of goals but that’s the way it goes,” he said.
“The first came through a crowd and I deflected it in, that felt like it should have been a goal but he gave offside and the second came from further out, the goalkeeper fumbled it and I put it in.
“I was more disappointed with the second one. I thought I was onside but there is nothing I can do about it now.
“It was a scrappy old game. We battled away and if those goals are onside you would have liked to see one given. But it’s another draw, we’re still unbeaten and we have to take the positives out of it.”
