Result: Bolton 2-0 Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
A goal in each half made it more misery on the road as Bolton completed a convincing victory at the Reebok Stadium.
Ivan Campo's early strike handed Bolton the initiative and they didn't let go, missing further chances in the first half before Henrik Pedersen doubled the lead after the break.
David Pleat later spoke about Bolton's power and certainly Pedersen, backed-up by Kevin Davies, was a constant thorn in the side with Campo and Youri Djorkaeff not far behind.
For our part, it was another disappointing afternoon and although we enjoyed more possession in the second half, we never really looked like breaking through.
Our best two efforts came in the space of five minutes in the first half. Jermain Defoe dragged an effort wide after 20 minutes and Simon Davies flashed a shot over after cutting in from the left.
But we had to until the 77th minute for our next chance and the last of the game as Mauricio Taricco slid a clever pass into Defoe who couldn't quite get hold of it.
Bolton's opener came after seven minutes. Campo picked up the ball 30 yards out, let fly, it took a nasty bounce in front of the diving Kasey Keller and nestled in the corner.
Keller made a fine save as Kevin Nolan's dipper appeared to take a deflection and the home side went close either side of our chances, Davies lobbing just wide and Pedersen denied by a superb tackle from Anthony Gardner, tracking back after the striker broke away on half-way.
The home side could have added to their lead twice before the break but Pedersen dallied in the box before eventually squaring to Davies, who shot tamely at Keller before seeing a shot hit his own player, Bruno Ngotty, on it's way into the net.
Taricco replaced Gus Poyet at half-time but Bolton remained on the front foot, Okocha lashing over and Campo curling a yard wide.
Michael Brown's 25-yarder didn't really test Jaaskelainen and play was soon back down the other end, Keller excelling himself to tip Okocha's free-kick around the post.
Davies shot wide from close range from the resulting corner and the second goal was only two minutes away.
It was unfortunate for Gardner who lost out to Pedersen on the edge of the area and the striker slotted past Keller one-on-one for 2-0, 64 minutes on the clock.
Robbie Keane, on for Redknapp just after the hour, tried to conjure up a reply after 75 minutes but Gardner was inches away from his teasing free-kick before Defoe's final chance two minutes later.
