Reserves: Sittingbourne 0-4 Spurs

English Barclays Premiership

John Piercy's impressive pre-season continued at Sittingbourne on Tuesday night. The versatile forward scored twice as our second string made it three wins in three friendlies at Central Park.

With first team squad members Mauricio Taricco, Luke Young, Ramon Vega, Simon Davies, Dave McEwen and Gary Doherty on board, this was the most impressive performance so far from Chris Hughton's men.

Piercy, who made his first team debut last season, opened the scoring after 33 minutes. He linked well with Taricco before cutting in from the left flank and finishing in the corner. It took until the 66th minute to make it 2-0 when Neale Fenn netted after combining well with Gary Doherty and Doherty made it three goals in his last two games after good work from Johnnie Jackson with seven minutes left.

Piercy then missed a penalty he had won himself but still had the last laugh after a clever pass from Simon Davies released him for his second and our fourth in the last minute.

Delighted boss Hughton said: "John did very well but to be fair all the players applied themselves well. I was particularly impressed with the second half because in the other games we've started well but dropped off after the break.

"At this stage of pre-season we need to be pushing on but against Aylesbury and Chesham we'd allowed our opponents back in. This time we went through to the end. We had more possession and created more chances as the game went on."

Spurs: Kelly, Hillier, Vega (Saker), Thelwell, Taricco (Jackson), Young (Consorti), Davies, Fenn, Piercy, Doherty, McEwen.
