Reserves cut down Forest

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Kazuyuki Toda tasted success on his competitive debut for the club as the reserves came from behind to beat Forest on Monday night.

The Japanese international looked at home in his role in front of a solid back four, showed a liking for a tackle - he was booked in the second half - and rarely gave the ball away in the 90 minutes.

He could do little though to prevent Forest from opening the scoring inside a minute and Colin Calderwood's men deserve full credit for bouncing back from going behind so early.

The teams had barely moved from kick-off when Westley Morgan's clearance found its way through to Jack Lester who calmly slotted the one-on-one under Neil Sullivan.

We gradually played our way back into the game and after what appeared a clear penalty for a foul on Alton Thelwell was waved away and Gary Doherty headed wide, the lively Matty Etherington levelled. With 26 minutes gone, he pounced on Doherty's flick, shifted the ball wide of Hjelde and drilled into the corner.

It was soon 2-1 with a wonderfully executed free-kick from Mark Hughes. David Galbraith was brought down on the edge of the box, John Jackson faked to shoot and Hughes curled into the top corner.

Hughes was handed the opportunity to repeat the trick from almost the same spot after 40 minutes but Barry Roche was up to the task.

The second half failed to match the first in terms of fluent football and goalmouth action as the teams somewhat cancelled each other out.

Thelwell forced Roche into a fine reaction save to his left after 51 minutes and Jackson, at the heart of most attacks, brought the best out of the visiting keeper after exchanging passes with Etherington.

Doherty's flick from Jackson's corner was cleared off the line by Hjelde as a third goal always looked more likely than a Forest equaliser.

Indeed, with Chris Perry and Thelwell in fine form, Sullivan was hardly tested and the points went to the right home.
