Clive Allen offers his assessment on the individual progress made by those in his Reserve Team group over the course of season 2006-07...Radek Cerny (4 appearances)
Radek's appearances were perhaps needed due to his shortage of games for the first team and it was important when he did play because it was generally leading up to him being involved. He used the reserve games to good effect, he is a fantastic professional and conducted himself in the way you would expect.
Charlie Daniels (12 appearances)
Charlie featured strongly in the first half of the season and was consistent. He's established himself and was comfortable at the level with being one of the more experienced players. He had a good season until he went away on loan to Chesterfield and got injured. That was a blow for him in his first game, but the time was right for him to make that step and they were pleased with what they saw in that one game. Obviously his loan would have continued had it not been for his injury.
Jamie Davis (3 appearances / 1 sub)
Jamie has had a very frustrating time with a hamstring injury that plagued him on and off all season, meaning his playing time was limited. He'll be working throughout the summer to be on the starting line for the new season.
Simon Dawkins (3 appearances, 2 goals)
Simon was very bright at the start of the season and, due to Lee's injury, began playing alongside Andy Barcham. I thought the signs were good and it was looking like a good season was in prospect until he got injured. There has been a lot of injuries that haven't been just niggles, which has frustrated a lot of the lads when it came to stringing games together.
Dorian Dervite (3 appearances, 1 goal)
Dorian's injury was an absolute nightmare for him in terms of the timing of it, the extent and the fact that it came in a friendly. It was so unfortunate with how long he is going to be out and the work he is going to have to do to get himself fit again. He has shown great character and has done everything that's been asked of him in his rehabilitation. The signs are very good at this stage, we are delighted with him and hope he will be back at the start of the season.
