Reserve report<br>Spurs 2-0 Norwich City

FA Premier Reserve League South

Dean Richards completed the full 90 minutes on his return to action as our reserves beat Norwich City 2-0 on Monday night.

The big defender put in an assured display up against a lively City attack in his first game since the pre-season friendly at Celtic.

While Richards enjoyed his first outing in six weeks, Dean Marney was the driving force from midfield and Lee Barnard again caught the eye up front.

Barnard made it two goals in seven days for the reserves after his strike against Palace last week and then handed Eddie Silva Sousa his first Spurs goal on a plate in the second half.

Marney's surges from midfield were a highlight all night and having had two good chances himself - blasting the best into the stand - set up Barnard's opener on 35 minutes.

The midfielder broke a couple of tackles before unloading from 25 yards, the ball cannoned back to him and this time he fed Barnard who stroked the ball home with some aplomb.

The Canaries had threatened a couple of times before that goal and should have levelled before the break.

Paul O'Donoghue tripped Ryan Jarvis right in front of goal for a cast-iron penalty. Jarvis stepped up himself, Marton Fulop saved superbly low to his right only for the linesman to flag for an infringement - possible Fulop straying off his line before the ball was kicked - and the referee ordered a retake. Jarvis grabbed the ball again and this time blasted into the Row Z.

That miss proved costly as we capitalised on our best football at the start of the second half with a fine second goal on the hour.

The impressive Jamie O'Hara released Marcel McKie down the left, he reached the byline and cut back for Barnard who dummied and allowed Silva Sousa to finished well from 10 yards.

Barring another Marney surge and rocket that Ward couldn't hold, Norwich actually carved out the better chances in the last half-hour. However, Crow couldn't take advantage and when Fulop was beaten, Stephen Kelly was there in injury time to block a certain goal.

3mins: Jarvis onto loose ball from long kick but weak shot straight at Fulop.

4mins: Marney snapshot from 30 yards drifted inches over.

8mins: Marney deep corner found Richards climbing high at far post but couldn't guide header back on target.

9mins: CHANCE. Kelly picked out Marney's burst into box, went for power from tight angle, blasted over.

20mins: Brennan bright run from left-back to edge of box, squared to Blackburn who curled over from 20 yards.

28mins: CLOSE. Norwich move started with goalkeeper's throw, lovely dink from Henderson to Crow who volleyed just wide from 16 yards.

33mins: Norwich break down the right but excellent defending at full stretch from O'Donoghue to block Crow's cross.

35mins: GOAL. Another Marney burst from central midfield, piledriver blocked but quickly onto loose ball and fed Barnard who confidently stroked home from 16 yards. 1-0.

44mins: PENALTY/SAVED/RETAKE/MISS. Ball from Henderson found it's way through to Jarvis who was fouled by O'Donoghue in front of goal. Fulop saved Jarvis' spot kick to his right but referee ordered retake. Jarvis stepped up again but this time blasted into stand.

50mins: Marney 20-yard volley bobbled a yard wide.

60mins: GOAL. Great move saw O'Hara release McKie down left flank, took ball to byline, cut back dummied by Barnard for Sousa Silva to side foot home from from 10 yards. 2-0.

62mins: Crow raced onto ball over the top, got run on defence but volleyed wide from 12 yards.

63mins: Brennan run from left-back, decent strike from 25 yards tipped wide by Fulop.

68mins: Long ball caught defence napping, Crow onto it but lobbed onto roof of net with Fulop stranded.

86mins: Marney surge took him past three Norwich players, thunderbolt from 25 yards too hot to handle for Ward who was lucky to see ball bounce to safety.

Injury time: WOODWORK/OFF LINE: Willis hit inside of post, Henderson looked like tapping ball in but Kelly produced superb block on line.
