Reserve report

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Spurs reserves secured a 1-1 draw with Gillingham in a friendly match played at Spurs Lodge on Wednesday afternoon.

The match was arranged for the benefit of Chris Hughton’s side who had no official reserve game scheduled for this week. The starting line-up included Ian Walker, Anthony Gardner, Ledley King, Matthew Etherington (pictured), Simon Davies and Jose Dominguez but, as is the nature of friendly games, the team considerably altered as the match progressed.

"We chopped and changed because we had quite a few bodies and some young ones," said Hughton.

"When I look at the first ten minutes we didn’t start, but then as the game progressed we got more and more into it. The conditions made it a little bit difficult, it was a bit blowy at the training ground. It wasn’t conducive to good passing football, but it was a competitive enough game.

"That’s sometimes what you need at reserve team level, you want games to be competitive enough. It was a good all round battling performance. We never really made the most of the goalscoring chances we had.

"Ian Hillier played very well and had a good chance in the second half which just went past the post. We had a few chances but didn’t really put a high percentage away. Over 90 minutes it was a reasonably even game."

The Spurs goal was scored by a young trialist.
