Our young strikers picked up where the Premiership boys left off as the reserves deservedly toppled Ipswich 3-0 on Monday night.
After Robbie Keane and Fredi Kanoute showed the way against Wolves on Saturday, Lee Barnard and Jamie Slabber again highlighted the potential bubbling just under the first team squad.
Barnard, in the first team squad for our last two games, was particularly impressive and rained in efforts all night - grabbing two goals for his efforts.
Slabber, who featured in the Premiership last season, added his name to the scoresheet in injury time on his return to the reserves following injury.
Elsewhere, Jamie O'Hara looked comfortable on his debut at this level, Mark Hughes covered every blade of grass again and the defence was rarely troubled.
Barnard and Dean Marney were the shining lights of the first half and the former's goal wouldn't have been out of place in the finishing school of the weekend win against Wolves.
Marney, back to his best, created it after one of his thrusts down the right, fizzing in a low cross that Barnard initially did well to control, let alone spin his defender and shoot home with his left foot from 10 yards.
Barnard, who perhaps should have opened the scoring in the second minute, saw his volley land on the roof of the net after 25 minutes and then flashed a shot over from 20 yards in injury time.
At the other end, it was all about Martjn Reuser, who appeared on a mission to shoot from every angle. However, none of his pot shots seriously troubled Rob Burch.
Burch was only really troubled in the 31st minute when Alun Armstrong ran onto Nabil Abidallah's through ball. The pair were always on a 50-50 collision course and Armstrong, who poked the ball wide, came off worse - he limped off and was stretchered away.
The second half was all about Barnard. Two early efforts tested Supple, he dragged a left-foot shot wide after losing Hogg and then doubled the lead in the 68th minute.
It was a striker's goal - in the right place at the right time to flick home Marney's volley from a half-cleared corner.
Away from Barnard, Supple was out bravely to deny Slabber and Burch threw himself spectacularly to his right to turn aside Abidallah's piledriver.
Gary Doherty, completely in control defensively alongside Bunjevcevic, should have made it three but failed to connect properly from close range while O'Hara's crisp drive had Supple scrambling.
Reuser's final effort stung Burch's fingers and there was time for Slabber to make his mark, glancing home a header from 10 yards to complete a good night's work.
