Reserve report

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Michael Brown kicked off his Spurs career in style as our reserves hit the goal trail against Coventry City on Monday night.

Our recent recruit from Sheffield United struck twice in his first game for the club following his arrival at the start of the month.

Helder Postiga, Jamie Slabber and Rohan Ricketts also netted in the reserves' biggest win of the campaign so far.

The only downside was another blow for the unlucky Christian Ziege - this time he was forced off after 25 minutes with a nasty cut over his left eye following an accidental clash of heads.

The lads went straight at the visitors from the first whistle. Jon Blondel and Bobby Zamora shot straight at Scott Shearer inside the opening two minutes and it was no surprise when we opened the scoring with seven minutes on the clock.

Postiga did the trick, taking Zamora's pass in his stride before driving low across Shearer into in the bottom corner.

Shearer was soon in action again, tipping over Brown's effort, but City responded with their best spell of the match - Avun Jephcott headed just wide and Lars Hirschfeld was alert to turn away Andy Morrell's overhead kick.

It was only a brief respite for the visitors though as Brown opened his account. Ricketts was the provider, slicing open the defence from inside his own half to pick out the run and Brown did the rest, driving past the last defender before a pinpoint shot inside the far post.

Postiga and Dean Marney forced further saves out of Shearer but it stayed 2-0 at the interval.

The second half wasn't as fluent but once Hirschfeld had tipped over Pead's curler, it was just as one-sided. Ricketts had a goal disallowed and Pegguy Arphexad, on for Shearer at half-time, saved well from Zamora.

Postiga tricked and turned in the box only to be denied by Arphexad before the third goal finally arrived after 77 minutes.

Ricketts was involved again, taking Zamora's pass and leaving two defenders on the floor in one move before striking the underside of the bar. The ball bounced straight to Slabber, on for Postiga, and the youngster drilled confidently into the corner.

Brown's low drive from the edge of the area made it 4-0, Arphexad denied Zamora again and Ricketts got the goal he deserved, turning home Slabber's low cross in injury time to complete the scoring.
