Report: Spurs 0-0 Wimbledon

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Our reserves maintained their unbeaten record at Stevenage Borough, but were held to a goalless draw by Wimbledon on Monday evening.

In a game of few clear cut chances, Colin Calderwood's side struggled to establish a pattern and neither side came particularly close to exercising the scoreboard.

Colin set the team out in a 4-4-2 formation with Stephen Clemence making his return in midfield alongside Tim Sherwood and flanked by Ciaran Toner and John Piercy.

Goran Bunjevcevic, a likely replacement for the cup-tied Dean Richards on Thursday, did not feature, nor did Sergei Rebrov. Mauricio Consorti, Alton Thelwell, Anthony Gardner and Ben Thatcher formed the defence in front of Dave Beasant.

Steffen Iversen continued his comeback in attack alongside Yannick Kamanan.

It was the Frenchman who was in the thick of most of the early attacking action. An early header forced a full-stretch save from visiting keeper Shane Gore and an attempt at lobbing Gore from the edge of the area fell over the bar.

Sherwood caused confusion in the Wimbledon rearguard on the 25 minute mark, selling the Wimbledon defence a dummy from a corner. The ball skidded across the six-yard box taking a deflection off a Wimbledon player.

From the resulting corner, a Gardner header hit the base of Gore's left hand post. Iversen also forced a reflex save from the Dons keeper.

Wimbledon's clearest opening of the half came when Patrick Agyemang turned Gardner before poking a shot onto Beasant's crossbar.

Iversen and Rob Gier had a clash of heads before the interval that left both men needing treatment.

Steffen did not emerge for the second half and was replaced by George Snee.

Ten minutes into the second period, Sherwood and Clemence exchanged passes and from Clem's cross, Tim's effort was cleared off the line by Mark Williams.

Neil Ardley provided the next goalmouth action, breaking clear to the right of Beasant's area, but dragged his shot wide under pressure from the veteran keeper.

Agyemang then ran at Gardner and Beasant blocked his effort with his legs.

Ben Bowditch replaced Clemence and John Sutton came on for Sherwood, but Spurs could not find the elusive breakthrough.
