Report: Foxes 1-2 Spurs

English Barclays Premiership

Mbulelo 'OJ' Mabizela's stunning entrance into the Premiership paved the way for the late, late show and another Fredi Kanoute strike at the Walkers Stadium.

The South African skipper took just four minutes to make his mark after coming off the bench with a thunderbolt from 30 yards to level the scores.

If that wasn't enough after what had been a disappointing game up to then, Kanoute pounced late to secure maximum points.

He finished off fine work from impressive substitute Stephane Dalmat, whose shot hit the post but was buried by his fellow Frenchman.

The only sad point was seeing Kanoute stretchered off in injury time after a tackle from Muzzy Izzet.

The first half was instantly forgettable and made worse by conceding a terrible goal seven minutes before the break.

Ferdinand rose high to flick on Walker's clearance to Dickov, who was half-a-yard offside when he received the ball. The striker controlled well but could only hit a tame shot from a tight angle - it somehow squeezed through Keller's hands and legs and home.

The half barely deserved a goal but you would have to concede if either team did, it was the home side.

They edged possession and forced the only notable save of the half from Keller, a sharp stop to his right from Izzet in the second minute. But the Foxes rarely broke down our defence and shots from distance either missed the target or were comfortably dealt with by Keller.

At the other end, Walker was a spectator and our only decent effort saw Keane's overhead kick sail over.

Stephane Dalmat's arrival in the second half provided some spark going forward, a couple of bursts led to decent crosses going into the box, but chances were still at a minimum.

Indeed, Walker's best save came from his own player when Gillespie volleyed home from all of 35 yards and the keeper had to backpeddle before tipping wide.

Keane's volley landed on the roof of the net but at the other end, Scowcroft's flick header from Izzet's free-kick had Keller scrambling.

It took until the 75th minute for the next action. Scimeca's curler forced a low save from Keller and Dickov might have done better after latching onto Scimeca's pass, opting to shoot rather than find Stewart in the clear.

Then it all changed. Mabizela, on four minutes earlier for Poyet, crashed Zamora's layback into the top corner from 30 yards.

He was then booked, City carved out two half-chances and then the grand finale.

It was all about Dalmat, who rode a tackle on half-way before taking a return pass off Taricco, turning inside Sinclair and side-footing onto the post. Thankfully the rebound fell to Kanoute, his first sight at goal all afternoon, and it was all over.
