Relive Kranjcar, Defoe and Kane goals v City!
30 September 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
A notable first goalscorer, a debut for an all-time great, Gary and Gazza, three goals in seven minutes in 2013 right up to last season's 4-1 win - our 'brief history' shows some significant highlights when Manchester City arrive at the Lane.
There was a notable goalscorer when we first welcomed City to the Lane back on December 27, 1910. Walter Tull was on target in a 1-1 draw in Division One. Walter played 10 times for us between 1909-11 and scored twice. He later fought in the Battle of the Somme in 1916 and became the first British-born black combat officer in the British Army.

Dave Mackay made his Spurs debut in a 3-1 win in Division One on March 21, 1959. A giant of Spurs, Dave was the midfield general and heartbeat of our double-winning side. He won the title and FA Cup in 1961, two more FA Cups in 1962 and 1967 and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1963 in 318 appearances for us between 1959-68. He also came back from two broken legs, the second in time to captain the team to FA Cup glory in 1967.

There was a lot of talk about City matching our 11 straight wins to the start of 1960-61 season before they drew at Celtic this week. However, our 11 straight league wins stands and by coincidence, it was City who first took points off us in that memorable double campaign with a 1-1 draw at the Lane on October 10, 1960.

Italia 90 was fresh in the memory and two of our players absolutely pivotal in England's run to World Cup semi-finals - Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker. Their first match back at the Lane post Italia 90 was against City on August 25, 1990 and they delivered again, Lineker scoring twice and Gazza once in a 3-0 win.

We won 19 and lost only three of our first 27 matches against City in the Premier League, including spells of four, seven and four wins on the trot. However, a 3-1 victory on April 21, 2013 was our first in five and our only win in nine between 2011-15, before last season's double. City led in this one as well, before three goals in seven minutes from Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale turned it around.

Right up to date and a key result and performance on our way to third place last season. We came from 1-0 down to win 4-1 and Harry Kane scored his first goal of the season - the first of 25 that would take him to the Golden Boot in the Premier League.
