Reidy ready for Carr chase
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Andy Reid will be trying to get the better of a familiar full-back when Newcastle come to town for Sunday's Barclays Premiership clash at the Lane, kick-off 4.05pm.
Should the Republic of Ireland leftie feature in his natural position he is likely to be in direct opposition with his international teammate and former Spur Stephen Carr.
It will be a first return to White Hart Lane for Spurs youth product Carr, who departed for the North East in August after nine years and 270 appearances in our colours.
"I will be..." pondered the recruit from Nottingham Forest when reminded who he will be up against. "He was here for a long time and I know him from the international team. He is a quality player, as all Tottenham fans know, and it is a bit of a shame I didn't get to play with him while he was here."
Andy is well aware he too could well be forced into defensive duty when it comes to shackling the forward surges of the attack-minded Carr but hopes it is the full-back that is pushed back on the day.
"Of course he can get forward, but I'd like think he is going to have to look after me as well and play well to keep me from creating things."
It was only last month Newcastle ended our FA Cup interest for this season with a 1-0 win at St James Park, largely thanks to the heroics of another of Andy's international colleagues - Shay Given.
"He is a top class goalkeeper and I know that from working with him in the Ireland set-up. He has been brilliant and shows week in, week out that he is a leading Premiership goalkeeper.
"His reflexes are second to none, he is a top shot-stopper and he talks well from the back and organises his defence well."
After such a tribute, Andy agrees it would be fitting if he could net his first goal for Spurs past the in-form Given.
"It would be! I'm hoping I'm going to score a few pretty soon. I'm pretty disappointed that I haven't so far but hopefully it won't be too far away."
