Redknapp reaction

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

West Ham boss Harry Redknapp was satisfied with the outcome of Wednesday night’s encounter at Upton Park, despite the Hammers dropping a place in the Premiership.

"Spurs were well organised, played the same three-man system at the back as we do and closed us down well," said Redknapp, who refused to dwell on Sunday’s triumph over Manchester United, or use it as an excuse.

"We've got no excuses because London derbies are always tough, no matter what your previous result was. The United game has gone now. We have to move on.

"It is a fair result I suppose. Spurs worked hard and were very efficient. They closed us down well, and we all know what a good ball player Steffen Freund is."

"We've got no automatic right to beat Spurs. Can we get into Europe? Who knows? I haven't written it off."

Redknapp briefly drifted into Fergie-speak when it came to the subject of the uneven West Ham pitch.

"It was bumpy, wet on top and made it difficult for us," he went on before realising the connection and quipping: "The referee didn't add on enough time either."

After all the euphoria surrounding West Ham’s FA Cup exploits, Redknapp pondered his realistic League ambitions.

"It is hard for me at a club like this when we always have to look at the price as the bottom line when we want to sign new players. I just have to enjoy trying to hunt out £1m superstars and if we can finish in the top half of the table again this season I'll be pleased, because that would be four years in a row and nobody's ever done that before here."
