Rebrov stat attack

English Barclays Premiership

Following his exploits in the Champions League, shattering the dreams of you know who, many of us possessed a limited knowledge of Sergei Rebrov's achievements. It was often said he was simply the perfect foil for his celebrated sidekick Andrei Shevchenko, but statistics supplied by Victor Kayda, a seasoned football observer in the Ukraine, dispel that myth.

The 26-year-old had a remarkable scoring record while playing in his homeland, scoring 103 goals in 208 Premier League games, which is a national record. Rebrov also had a liking for the national cup competition, in which he holds another national record, scoring 19 goals in 41 appearances - which all bodes well for our own Cup dreams, what with the year ending in one.

His scoring prowess is not just confined to domestic competitions. A stunning 28 goals in 59 Champions League games shows that Gorlovka-born striker is comfortable in any company. Just as telling is his 12 goals in 36 internationals. Both of those tallies are also national records.

Breaking down Rebrov's 103 League goals for Shakhtar Donetsk (19 games, 10 goals) and Dynamo Kiev, our L11m recruit is the holder of several more national records.

He has scored three goals or more in a match six times, the same feat three times in one campaign - and the White Hart Lane new boy is not bad from the penalty spot either.

George Graham could do worse than hand spot-kick duties to Rebrov next season as he is the best at them in the Ukraine, scoring 27 out of 33.

A warning to Spurs fans, Rebrov's most productive spell in matches is between the 46th and 75th minute. During that period in games he has scored 47 of his league goals - so be sure to go to the toilet at half-time.
