Reading U18s vs Spurs - Kieran's preview
13 February 2015|Tottenham Hotspur
Our Under-18s will put their FA Youth Cup endeavours to one side on Saturday as they resume league duties with a trip to Reading.
Fresh from a 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the knockout competition at White Hart Lane on Monday, we travel to Berkshire looking to complete a Barclays Under-18 Premier League double over the Royals following on from our 2-1 home win against them back in October.
Under-18s Coach Kieran McKenna confirmed the players have worked hard in training since the victory over the Red Devils and are keen to put on another positive performance in advance of next week’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final at Nottingham Forest.
“It was a very pleasing night on Monday but for the rest of the week it’s been back to business on the training ground,” he said.
“Saturday’s game is another opportunity for players to impress. The game against Reading here earlier in the season was quite close. I thought we had a really good first half but in the second half they changed the way they played a little bit and put us under a lot of pressure.
“For the boys who didn’t play on Monday night this weekend presents a good opportunity for them to come in and impress, while for some of those who did play and who will play again it’s a chance to get another game under their belts and hopefully set themselves up well for next Wednesday night at Forest.”
Saturday’s game kicks-off at 12noon at the Royals’ training ground. Follow us on Twitter @SpursOfficial for live updates.
