Raising the anchor
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
David Pleat says Ledley King offers more to the team than simply being the midfield anchor man.
Ledley switched to midfield when he returned from injury as substitute in the Middlesbrough game at the end of October and has since made the position his own. It was suspected that the strapping central defender would adopt the enforcer role in the central area, giving the team some much needed height and muscle.
The 23-year-old is now really flourishing in the position - scoring two goals in his last three games - and now, with the arrival of the tigerish Michael Brown, David feels he can bring other elements of his game into play.
"I was delighted with Ledley King and the fact he got a goal," commented the acting boss after Ledley's strike at Charlton on Wednesday. "It was very important as well, that third goal.
"He had two efforts in the first half that were very close and I think we might get him to drive on a bit more. We considered that he might be our defensive anchor because he's a centre-half but he's got more to offer.
"He can surge on a bit and give us something extra. He can make a tackle and he can do a bit for us in there. We've Michael Brown in there as well now and he can get close and make it difficult."
