Rafael van der Vaart visited the year’s first session of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation’s Superstars programme at Rokesly Junior School in Haringey on Wednesday.
The Dutchman took part in football-based activities with children while speaking on the importance of team work, good discipline, communication and healthy lifestyles.
Tottenham Hotspur Foundation uses the appeal of the Club and its players as a way of helping improve the educational achievements of children and young people in the community.
Van der Vaart, 28, said: “All the players at the Club play an active role in the community and are fully committed to supporting the work of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. As players we appreciate the importance of a good education and a healthy lifestyle. I hope that me being here today as a role model for these children can help them see the benefits of playing sport and having good communication skills.”
Superstars is run in a number of local primary schools, covering a different topic each week designed to boost students' confidence, re-inforce good behaviour both in and out of school and promote healthy lifestyles.
The emphasis is on fun, interactive activities with time spent on group discussion to build speaking and listening skills.
Superstars is available for year groups 4, 5 and 6 and is available throughout the academic year. For more information please contact Kerrie Robbins on 020 8365 5073or email email@example.com.
