Rafa chases Wembley dream
Rafa van der Vaart is determined to book a date at Wembley in the FA Cup - having unfortunately missed his latest chance to step out at the famous stadium last month.
Rafa picked up an ankle injury at Arsenal and had to withdraw from Holland’s friendly against England - captained by his team-mate Scott Parker - on February 29.
Now he’s a win away from one of his footballing dreams we prepare to face Bolton at the Lane in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday.
The semi-finals of the competition are staged at Wembley on the weekend of April 14-15.
“Wembley is a special stadium and because I missed the friendly against England I’ve never played there,” said Rafa.
“It’s always difficult in the FA Cup, but we will play at home against Bolton so we’ll be strong and we have a good chance of making the semi-finals and playing at Wembley.”
Rafa insisted our 3-0 victory in the Premier League against the Trotters in December would mean nothing come Saturday.
“It won’t make a difference on Saturday,” he said. “It’s a separate game and we have to win, we don’t want a replay.”
