Quinn aims to banish ghosts
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Niall Quinn reckons Sunderland are desperate to exorcise the ghosts of last season's morale-sapping home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
Quinn puts down Sunderland's 3-2 defeat against Spurs in April as one of the club's worst days at the Stadium of Light.
We snatched a dramatic triumph after being two goals behind at the break with a goal from Stephen Clemence and two from Gary Doherty.
Quinn, 34, told Sunderland’s official site, www.safc.co.uk: "Looking back it was a huge result and a real black mark on our performances in the last three or four years at home.
"If anything it will help us try to put in a good performance and try to make up for it. "It came at a really important stage when we were still up there with a chance of Europe and a win would have kept us in the hunt.
"But we let a good lead slip and kind of went to pieces, which was out of character for us and certainly something we would never want to repeat.
"You try not to dwell on games in the past but we have a proud home record so things like that stick out in the mind."
The defeat against Spurs five months ago was Sunderland's last at the Stadium of Light.
