Martin Jol has enjoyed the opportunity to spend a little quality time with the members of his squad who were not on international duty over the last ten days. The manager admitted that, after having little preparation time ahead of most of our 49 games already played this season, this break has been a welcome one for the coaching staff.

"I suppose you can relax a bit more because before that we were having a game, then having to talk about it with the players before having one day to travel and play the next game," explained Martin. "If we had a home game it was a bit easier but it was still a game every two or three days.

"Of course this is different, but for many of the players it has been much the same because they have been on the road and playing internationals. You just hope they stay fit.

"For us, we were able to do more on the training pitch, we have a plan and work to that. Today [Wednesday], for example, we trained twice and that is welcome for the players. It it why I wasn't gutted that Jermaine Jenas wasn't named in the England squad probably for the first time in a good while, along with Michael Dawson, because they - particularly Michael - needed that rest from games.

"For us as a coaching staff, we have been able to have a little bit of relaxation and that is good."
