Harry Kane fielded questions from our young fans at Thursday's Open Training event at White Hart Lane.
The questions varied from Harry's pre-match meal to his favourite goal this season - and for fans who couldn't make it to the session, the full Q&A is below...
What made you like football?
Harry: "My dad and brother were big football fans and they used to take me over to the park to play when I was a kid. They say they taught me everything I know, I’m not sure about that! My family are big into football, got me into it at a young age and I’ve loved it ever since."
What sort of age did you start to take it seriously?
Harry: "I think you just have to enjoy it when you are a kid, play your football and play with a smile on your face. So maybe when you get to 15, 16, perhaps then. No matter what, you have to work hard, but you have to enjoy it."
What do you eat before a match?
Harry:
"I normally have two slices of toast, scrambled egg and beans. I
normally have that three hours before a game to give it time to digest. I
normally get up around 9.30am for a normal 3pm home game and head over
to White Hart Lane for 11am to get ready for the game."
Do you still get butterflies?
Harry:
"Yes, definitely, on the way to the game you’re excited and you can’t
wait to get onto the pitch, especially if it’s a home game."
What is your favourite goal this season?
Harry: "It has to be the header against Arsenal. The way it panned out, to win the game 2-1 and to score the winner was very special for me. Nabil put a great cross in and I was able to adjust my body and managed to head it back across goal. To see it hit the back of the net was a special feeling. It was like slow-motion and when it hit the net, everyone went mad – and I was the same!"
Who is your favourite footballer?
Harry: "It’s probably Teddy Sheringham. He was brilliant when I was growing up and I came to watch him a lot, a great player and great striker. I try to do things similar to him and he scored a lot of goals and won a lot of trophies, so, yes, definitely Teddy."
What is you biggest achievement?
Harry: "It has to be making my England debut. Any footballer wants to play for their national side and to pull on the Three Lions’ shirt and walk out at Wembley was special, a moment I won’t forget."
Who is the toughest defender you’ve played against?
Harry: "I’d say John Terry, we’ve had some great battles this season, a top defender at the top of his game."
How did you feel when you scored the winner against Arsenal?
Harry: "The atmosphere was unbelievable in that game. We were 1-0 down and I didn’t think we deserved that, so to come back and get both goals was incredible. It was a great day. When the crowd is in full voice here it really pushes you on and makes you want to do even better. The more games like that, the better."
