Pulis: The Lane 'a fantastic ground to go and play on'

Fri 13 January 2017, 12:43|Tottenham Hotspur

Tony Pulis expects his West Bromwich Albion players to relish the chance to play at “one of his favourite grounds” on Saturday lunchtime.

Premier League football returns after a brief pause for the FA Cup with the Baggies coming to White Hart Lane for a 12.30pm kick-off.

Pulis, whose side have frustrated us time and again in recent seasons with our last three consecutive meetings ending 1-1, is looking forward to returning to N17 and hopes his charges feel the same way.

“I love going there, it’s one of my favourite grounds,” said the experienced manager ahead of his visit to the Lane this weekend. “It’s traditional, tight on the pitch and the supporters are right on top of you.

“It’s a famous football club, it’s got a great tradition and it’s a fantastic ground to go and play on and I think as a footballer and as a Premier League player, that is one of the grounds they really should enjoy playing on.”

As for the game itself, Pulis has reeled off a host of names he believes his players will need to get to grips with.

“With Kane, Alli, Eriksen – you look at them, they’ve got fantastic players,” he said. “Dembele is a good midfield player and they’ve got great balance. Wanyama is as good a holding midfield player as anybody in the Premier League.

“They’re a very good side and we need our strongest team at Tottenham because they are one of the teams where when they play, they are exceptional.”
