Puel: 'Spurs can change players without changing quality'

Tue 28 November 2017, 12:18|Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City manager Claude Puel expects a tough game tonight – whoever takes to the field for us.

The former Southampton boss, who was Hugo Lloris' manager for a spell at Lyon in France, is preparing his side for battle as the busy schedule of Premier League fixtures continues at the King Power Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino revealed on Monday that midfielder Harry Winks will be assessed ahead of the game after suffering from illness, while Erik Lamela is in contention for a place in the squad for the first time in over a year after recovering from hip problems.

But Puel says we're a force to be reckoned with, no matter who is in our starting XI.

“I think they have, in every position, a good technical player and a great quality for every player,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“They also have a good collective with their manager and they work very well with the squad with different players, they can change the starting players without changing the quality.

“We know that Tottenham can go far in the European competitions but it is always a good challenge for us to play this team and to play our game and to improve.”

Puel, whose Foxes drew 1-1 at West Ham on Friday night and are 12th in the table, continued: “It will be important to see our progress and to play under pressure against a good opponent.

“It is promising for the future because the players listen and try to correct, step-by-step, and gradually improve their performances.

“If we can play good football and we are leading 1-0, 2-1, then we need to win this game and to keep this good concentration until the end of game.”

Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
