Programme: Teddy Sheringham

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

So here we are again playing against Chelsea and hopefully today’s meeting will produce another great game.

We’ve already had three fantastic matches against them this season and we have come out with the right result once so it would be nice to even it up for the campaign. We know it’s going to be a difficult game, but I’m sure it will be a cracking one. Let’s hope it ends in our favour.

Looking back on the two games we’ve played since my last column, we’ve had varying fortunes. Our game here against Sunderland last Saturday was a big match for us. After losing the Worthington Cup Final it was important we got back to winning ways as quickly as possible and we did just that.

It was disappointing to lose Darren Anderton who has been outstanding this season but I felt we still attacked the game in the right manner. We played with good penetration and produced some great football at times on an increasingly bad pitch.

But we still tried to get the ball down and pass it around and that’s what we did and I felt we deserved to be 2-1 winners. We could have scored a lot more in the first half, we had a few chances and opened them up at good times, but went in at half-time all square at 1-1 after they scored from one of only two chances they had in that first period.

So we had to start all over again in the second half and attack them once more but we did that well and deserved the win. That took us nicely into our trip to Old Trafford, or so we thought anyway.

We knew it was going to be a difficult game so to lose the first goal was disappointing, particularly after we’d had a lot of play and possession and were enjoying the game for the first 20 minutes or so. They took the lead against the run of play.

Conceding the second goal in the manner we did was just ridiculous. The incident involving Mauricio and Paul Scholes took place outside the area and the referee, who was three yards away, didn’t give anything, he waved play on.

But his assistant flagged and he was 35 yards away. To lose Tano, concede the penalty and let in another goal just before half-time was hard to accept.

Even if it was a foul, it should not have been a sending off because there were so many people around the ball at the time, someone would have got back, so it was disappointing all round. Once you go 2-0 down against United with 10 men you know it’s going to be an uphill battle.

But all credit to the lads, we still had a few chances in the second half and if we’d taken one of them early on, you never know what might have happened. We stuck at it as best we could and that should hold us in good stead for today’s match.

It’s a team game and we are going to need everybody pulling together if we are to produce the right result this afternoon.

Enjoy the game.
