Programme: Teddy Sheringham

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Firstly, let me start by giving a warm welcome to all the Manchester United coaching and playing staff. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Old Trafford, the

experience was unbelievable.

I was so pleased that I played a part in United’s dream of winning the Champions’ League in 1999. It was a fun-filled 10 days which ended with the treble that season, moments I’m sure myself and the rest of that team will remember for years to come. Good luck to the lads, enjoy the game today, but not too much!

Our performances have been good since we played Chelsea in our last game here, although the results have been indifferent. We played very well against Chelsea.

We went a goal down at a critical time just before the break but came back really well and were unlucky to be on the losing side.

The tide was definitely turning when we had that dubious penalty awarded against us. These decisions happen during the course of a season and we have to hope they will even themselves out, so I don’t have too many complaints about that one. Having said that, it was a crushing blow to lose to them…again.

It could have become a critical week had we not won up at Sunderland in our next game, but all credit to the lads. A special mention to Ledley King who was outstanding once again, as was Chris Perry on the night, and our defence stood firm in the face of a late Sunderland onslaught. We could have made it a lot easier for ourselves by taking our chances in the first half — we should have been three or four up at the interval — but we weren’t and that allowed the home side to put us under pressure once they scored.

That victory took us on to Liverpool in good spirits and the confidence running through the side as a result of the win at Sunderland meant we travelled to Anfield expecting to get something out of the game.

Les was very unlucky to see his header come back off the line early on and I think if we’d gone ahead during the first half, we would have probably gone on to win the game. As it was, we didn’t even get a point and that was frustrating, particularly after the way we worked. There were a lot of plus points for us though but it showed we still have a bit to do before we can get up among the big boys at the top of the table.

Finally, I’d like to welcome our latest new signing, Dean Richards, from Southampton. He played very well against us earlier in the season and I think by spending the money we did to get him here, we have shown a clear sign of the ambition of this club and proves we are moving in the right direction.

If Dean can come in and play his part in our defence this season, it can only bode well for the club. Good luck to him and I hope he enjoys his time here, I’m looking forward to having him in the side.

Your support was excellent once again against Chelsea in our last game here, keep it up today and together we can put another dent in United’s Premiership challenge. Enjoy the game.
