Programme: Teddy Sheringham

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Looking back over our last couple of games it was important we got back to winning ways after what had happened in the previous few weeks.

The boys set out to do just that against Charlton and I felt we were very unlucky not to come away with the three points. The one half chance they had in the second half they managed to score from the goal coming off Chris Powell’s thigh and that gave us a harsh lesson about winning games in the Premier League.

It showed us that with half a chance, teams can win a game and we can come away empty-handed. Against Charlton, we could so easily have finished the match with all three points with a bit more luck. On another day, Gus Poyet would have been walking away with the match ball and we’d be celebrating a 3-0 win, but that’s life in the Premiership.

That made it even more important to go to Fulham and get a result. I know we’d done very well against them this year but the points were up for grabs on the day and both teams were anxious to get the victory.

So it was nice to produce a solid performance which gave us the points. It was nothing dramatic, nothing spectacular, but it was the sort of display we really needed, with everyone sticking together and we defended very well in the second half for a thoroughly deserved win.

Once again it’s great for a number of the lads to be involved in international football as they were last week. It also reflects well on the club to have so many players representing their countries.

A special mention to Ledley King who made his debut for England against Italy. Ledley has been absolutely outstanding this year, especially when you consider it’s still only his first full season in the Premier League. He fully deserved his chance to come on and play for his country and all the lads are very pleased for him.

Also, Anthony Gardner won his first cap for the England Under-21s and he’s another player whose recognition on the international stage is fully justified.

Enjoy the game today.
